As an HR leader with over 10 years of HR experience and insights, I build stronger teams by helping California businesses navigate HR compliance and employee experience to connect people with their work purpose.
In pursuit of this philosophy, I have earned the credentials of Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). These verifiable certifications are a form of contextual substantiation to emphasize my dedication to human resources―the profession of people! Moreover, having a value-centric and diversified career portfolio, which includes a Bachelor of Science in Fine and Professional Arts and a strong heritage of engaging roles in such areas as entrepreneurship, re-refining of waste lubricant material, death care, behavioral health, teaching abroad, creative arts, real estate, and business management, I am able to skillfully collaborate across departments and cultures to merge employee well-being and workplace management.
This diverse portfolio stems from the universal framework HR offers across industries. The fundamental mechanics and operational backbone―leave of absence, benefits, payroll, and compliance―of HR remain consistent. Using the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 as an example, determining eligibility and qualifying reasons are without reference to being industry specific. An insurance producing company will act in accordance with the law the same as a hospitality or technology company would do.
By extension, the various industry experiences enhance the network of tools and resources in which to apply for achieving solutions to challenges that transpire in the interconnected and ever-changing employment relationship. HR remains versatile and innovative, while preserving the integrity of its core foundation.
